hello toy!
The quote "Hello Toy! I destroyed you. I love you." (adapted from Winnicott) is used for a number of elements of the Supertoys exhibition. The fuller explanation is below:
Supertoys web site under construction
We are currently developing a new web site for the Supertoys project. The exhibition 'Supertoys: On Play, Affective Machines and Object Relations' features work by Codemanipulator, Chris Cunningham, Dunne + Raby, Natalie Jeremijenko, Kahve Society, Alex McLean, Philipe Parenno, Unmask Group, and some guest robots with the help of researchers at Bristol Robotics Lab.
Exhibition
Supertoys is an exhibition and related events exploring toys, affective machines and play. Artists, technologists, children and adults examine how toys operate as 'transitional objects' in allowing feelings to be carried between the human subject and external objects. In the lead up to Christmas, Supertoys is a chance to think about toys in new ways. Th exhibition runs from 22 November 2008 - 18 January 2009.
New blog
This is the new blog for the ongoing work on the Supertoy project (the password is the same as the previous one). For the old site, follow the link at the bottom of the supertoy.org home page. We are working towards an exhibition at Arnolfini (autumn 2008) where we will present some of the Headley Park work. If you were involved in this keep in touch using this blog and check it for updates as we would like to involve you in the planning. You can email us using 'teddy at supertoy dot org' if you prefer.
