The physical records of Arnolfini's history were moved to the Bristol Record Office in 2006, where they are being sorted and weeded for the first time in preparation for cataloguing. The first stage of Arnolfini's on-line archive is now complete, and a comprehensive list of exhibitions, performances and other events that Arnolfini has programmed since 1961, along with their locations, is available to search at: http://arnolfini.adatabase.org

Work is continuing to populate this list with documentation that relates to these events, including photographs, publicity material and exhibition guides.

In 2008-09, the research project Rethinking Archives: History, Media, Memory investigated issues related to the archiving of Arnolfini.

Arnolfini Archive, at Bristol Records Office

The Performing the Archive wiki by Paul Clarke (2006-09) holds materials from the Great Western Research Project hosted by the University of Bristol Theatre Collection’s Live Art Archives and Arnolfini Live's archives and partnered with Exeter University Department of Drama. The project aims to develop the interrelationship and interactivity between the archives and communities of practitioners, scholars and audiences. Research will explore how academics and artists can use and re-use documents of past events, to inflect and inspire their own performance practice and their critical thinking or writing.
