Supertoys is a project to design a toy by children for children following the principle that they are largely disenfranchised: they play with toys but have little input into their design or production. This led to the development of an online resource and exhibition/events using the Brian Aldiss story 'Supertoys Last All Summer Long' as a point of departure to examine how toys operate 'transitionally' in allowing feelings to be carried between the human subject and external objects.
The project was initially developed by Kahve Society in collaboration with children from Headley Park Primary School in Bristol, with the support of Arnolfini and Creative Partnerships.
